Each skill is isolated and then drills are given to teach and reinforce the skills in small game situations as Chris Dekker takes his Feyenoord players through their defensive training regimens. Graphics are used to show the lines and patterns of defensive schemes. Video clips from Feyenoord vs Real Madrid youth teams show the techniques taught.
Part 1: Individual Defending, includes:
  • Shutting down the player when receiving the ball
  • Preventing the opponent from turning
  • Channeling, delaying and covering
  • Timing of Tackles

  • Defending of crosses
Part 2: Team Defending, includes:
